Volkswagen | Volkswagen "Scirocco R" Announced

Volkswagen SCIROCCO R

The most powerful Scirocco ever

Volkswagen unveiled the "Scirocco R" on the 20th. This model is a road-legal version born from feedback from the racing machine "Scirocco GT24" that competes in the Nürburgring 24 Hours race. It is said to be the most powerful Scirocco ever produced.

The Sportiest "R" Model

The engine installed isAudibased on the 2.0-liter inline-4 turbo also used in the S3, with fine-tuning focused on the intake and exhaust systems, producing a maximum output of 265 ps and a maximum torque of 35.7 kgm.

To transmit this power and torque to the road without compromise, the chosen transmissions are a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed DSG. For weight reduction, the drivetrain is intentionally front-wheel drive, successfully keeping the vehicle weight down to 1330 kg.

The suspension includes reinforced dampers and brakes, as well as a newly developed differential lock "XDS" that integrates an electronic limited-slip differential (EDS) with ESP. This is said to improve traction performance during cornering and acceleration from a standstill. 18-inch tires are standard, with 19-inch optional.

With these specifications, the Scirocco R is said to achieve outstanding performance, with 0-100 km/h acceleration in 6.5 seconds (6.4 seconds for DSG) and a top speed limited to 250 km/h.

Aggressive and Racing Exterior & Interior

The exterior inherits the image of the "Scirocco GT24," with a front bumper featuring large air intakes and LED daytime running lights, as well as an integrated front spoiler, grille, side skirts, and roof spoiler, all finished with a more aggressive aesthetic than the standard model.

The interior also achieves a more racing image through the use of aluminum panels on the dashboard, bucket seats, a flat-bottomed three-spoke steering wheel, and aluminum pedals.

The Scirocco R is scheduled for its official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, after which it is expected to go on sale in various European countries.
