Returning After 17 Years! The Evolved Scirocco

Many readers might exclaim "Nostalgic!" upon hearing the name Scirocco. Debuting in 1974 as the successor to the Karmann Ghia, a legendary car that left its mark on automotive history, the Scirocco's second generation, released in 1981, ceased production in 1992. Thus, the third generation, launched now, marks its return after a 17-year hiatus. The Volkswagen compact coupe that once thrilled people worldwide has been reborn for the modern era as a premium sports coupe.

Achieving Both "Sport" Performance and "Eco" Fuel Efficiency

The new Scirocco has been reborn, more sporty and stylish than ever. All grades feature Volkswagen's new generation TSI engines, which deliver high output and low fuel consumption, along with the innovative DSG transmission. By achieving a balance of excellent driving performance and fuel efficiency, it proposes the modern sports car's ideal: "Sport & Eco."

Two grades will be introduced for the Scirocco. First is the "Scirocco TSI," equipped with an engine that offers a high balance of power and fuel economy based on the downsizing concept. It utilizes a "1.4-liter TSI twin-charger engine" with a supercharger and turbocharger, achieving a maximum output of 160ps and fuel economy of 15.8km/l, thus balancing driving pleasure with environmental performance.

The other is the "Scirocco 2.0 TSI." This model is powered by a new generation "2.0-liter TSI single-charger engine (EA888 series)," distinct from the Golf GTI's 2.0-liter turbo engine. It delivers a maximum output of 200ps and fuel economy of 13.2km/l. While inheriting the basic structure and bore/stroke from the previous model, most parts have been redesigned to pursue further efficiency, including improved fuel economy and reduced emissions.

Balancing a Stylish Coupe Silhouette with Excellent Interior Space

While boasting an avant-garde design reminiscent of a concept car, its innovative form, as if it leaped straight from a design studio, is born from the principle of "balancing a stylish coupe silhouette with excellent interior space." Whereas the original Scirocco was a fastback coupe with a gently sloping tailgate, the new model adopts a unique form with an extended roof measuring 1,800mm and a near-vertical tailgate. This design ensures ample rear-seat space for two adults to relax comfortably, along with generous luggage capacity. Furthermore, the flared rear fenders emphasizing its low and wide proportions—a total height of 1420mm and width of 1810mm—and the rear design created by the roof dramatically narrowed compared to the body, contribute to the Scirocco's dynamic, sports-car-like aesthetic.
Additionally, the cockpit, meticulously designed based on the latest ergonomics, features an intuitive and user-friendly layout, allowing for quick and precise operation.

Its original avant-garde design, dynamic driving performance befitting a sports car, high practicality for daily life, and abundant advanced features contributing to its driving and comfort will undoubtedly capture admiring glances.
