Porsche's Latest Gran Turismo, the Panamera, Teased

Germany'sPorscheAG has launched a teaser campaign for its new four-door, four-seater gran turismo, the Porsche Panamera.

Focus on the Hybrid Version

The Panamera, a rear-wheel-drive model scheduled for introduction in 2009, has had its teaser images revealed, showing only the front. Further information will be disclosed sequentially on the "The 4th dimension" website and through advertising campaigns across various media.

The Panamera will compete with models such as the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class and the Maserati Quattroporte. It is being developed through a collaboration between Porsche and its principal shareholder, Volkswagen (VW). Vehicle assembly will take place at Porsche's Leipzig plant, engines will be produced at the company's headquarters in Zuffenhausen, and pre-painted bodies will be manufactured at VW's Hanover factory.

The most significant point is the planned addition of a hybrid version alongside gasoline and diesel variants. This is said to utilize the same system as the "Cayenne Hybrid," an SUV slated for market release, and its entry into the hybrid market by a luxury sports car manufacturer is drawing global attention.

BRAND HISTORY
PORSCHE is a globally acclaimed sports car brand from Germany, revered by skilled drivers worldwide. Its origins trace back to 1931 when Ferdinand Porsche, a brilliant engineer who distinguished himself from his twenties, established his own "Porsche Design Office" in Stuttgart, Germany, after a tenure as technical director at Daimler. He subsequently undertook development projects for various car manufacturers. Among his most famous creations is the "Volkswagen Beetle," which played a significant role in motorization as Germany's "people's car."

The first car to bear his name as an automobile manufacturer was the "356," introduced in 1948. Since then, Porsche has introduced sports cars like the "911," "924," and "928," while also focusing intensely on motorsport. Notably, they achieved 16 victories at the grueling 24 Hours of Le Mans and contributed to three series championships as an engine supplier in Formula 1, showcasing a brilliant racing pedigree. It goes without saying that their engineering prowess and dedication to driving performance continue to imbue their products today.

Currently, their lineup boasts high popularity across all models, including the "911," which, after 45 years since its debut, remains a top-tier sports car; the open-top sports car "Boxster"; its coupe counterpart, the "Cayman"; and the premium sports SUV, the "Cayenne."
