Contrary to its "Baby" Nickname

The second Lamborghini model, rumored to be in development under the moniker "Baby Lambo," was unveiled at the 2003 Geneva Motor Show. "Gallardo," meaning "fighting bull" in Spanish, was a fitting name for a descendant of the noble fighting bull lineage. Contrary to its "baby" nickname, it commands an overwhelming presence with Lamborghini's signature low, sharp design and exceptional power.

This mid-ship sports car, powered by a 5-liter V10 engine mounted behind the driver, achieves both lightness and high rigidity through its aluminum spaceframe structure and aluminum body panels. Its power, reaching 500ps, is fully transmitted to the road via a full-time 4WD system.
In addition to a 6-speed manual transmission, a semi-automatic "e-gear" system operated by paddle shifters is also available.

Then, at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show, the Gallardo evolved into the "Gallardo LP560-4." The engine's displacement was increased to 5.2 liters, and direct injection technology boosted its output by 40ps to 560ps. It goes without saying that the "LP560-4" designation refers to this model's maximum output and its 4WD system.

With this model change, the exterior design was also refined, and the suspension and 4WD system were revised, resulting in even higher performance than before.

BRAND HISTORY
As Italy's preeminent sports car manufacturer, Lamborghini is perpetually compared to Ferrari. This is entirely natural, as Lamborghini's very origin story is rooted in the ambition to surpass Ferrari.

Ferruccio Lamborghini founded Automobili Lamborghini in 1963, at the age of 47. After amassing wealth through tractors and air conditioning in the post-war era, Ferruccio had owned numerous sports cars, yet none satisfied him. Ferrari was no exception. The famous anecdote tells of Enzo Ferrari dismissively telling Ferruccio, who was complaining about his cars, to "stick to driving tractors." This retort spurred Ferruccio to establish his own brand with the explicit goal of defeating Ferrari.

Lamborghini wasted no time, unveiling the advanced V12-powered "350GTV" with its beautiful body at the 1963 Turin Motor Show, followed by the production version, the "350GT," the next year. Subsequently, the company released iconic models like the "Miura" and "Countach." However, due to setbacks in its tractor business and the impact of the oil crisis, the sports car maker bearing his name eventually changed hands.

Although the Lamborghini company changed ownership several times thereafter, it has experienced steady growth since coming under the umbrella of Audi in 1998. Currently, the lineup consists of the V12-powered "Murciélago" and the V10 "Gallardo."
