Chassis, Engine, and Transmission Also Renewed

The Huracán LP610-4 is the latest model succeeding the "Gallardo", which achieved record sales in Lamborghini's history, and is a highly anticipated Lamborghini model with everything renewed. At the Ia Theater in Shibuya, Tokyo, where the Japan premiere was held, the powerful exhaust note echoed as if to break the silence of the venue immediately after the new model's PV was shown, and from within the smoke, LED lamps with a design resembling two overlapping Y's appeared. Yes, the arrival of the Huracán.

The Huracán incorporates a wealth of the latest technology. The body shell, which can be called the skeleton, has evolved to the next generation. The hybrid chassis, combining ultra-lightweight carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) elements and aluminum parts, boasts excellent collision safety and high rigidity, yet weighs less than 200kg on its own.

A major topic is also the renewal of the powertrain housed in this chassis. The new 5.2-liter V10 unit, while naturally aspirated like other Lamborghinis, has a maximum output of 610ps and a maximum torque of 560Nm. In addition, the transmission is equipped with Lamborghini's first-ever "Lamborghini Doppia Frizione (LDF)" 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, which not only achieves quicker shifts but also contributes to improved drivability.

The 4WD system has also been improved with an electro-hydraulic multi-plate clutch, allowing for more direct torque distribution between the front and rear. As a result of these advancements, acceleration from 0-100 km/h is a mere 3.2 seconds, with a top speed of 325 km/h.

The suspension is equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels fitted with Pirelli P Zero tires developed exclusively for the Huracán, and powerful carbon-ceramic brakes as standard. In effect, they are virtually fade-free, offering not only exceptional performance but also excellent durability and light weight, making them ideal for a sports model. The calipers are 6-piston at the front and 4-piston at the rear. They are normally silver, but an option for customization to yellow and other colors is also available.

Delivery Time Exceeds One Year

Another notable new feature is "ANIMA", which means "soul" in Italian. This is the nickname for Adaptive Network Intelligent Management. It allows the driver to select vehicle settings according to the driving stage from "STRADA (road)", "SPORT (sport)", and "CORSA (racetrack)" by operating a button on the steering wheel. These settings include the throttle valve, transmission, 4WD system, and magnetic fluid dampers.

Turning to the interior, the cabin features a luxurious interior that speaks of craftsmanship, a multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifters, and behind it, a vibrant 12.3-inch monitor-type instrument panel. And the ignition switch, hidden under a bright red cover on the center console, awakens the V10 engine.

Although the body size is larger than the Gallardo, the Huracán itself does not feel particularly wide. This is likely due to the sharper front mask. The clever design, such as the lever-type door grips to flatten the door surface, may also be a contributing factor.

According to Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, who appeared more dashing than the Huracán at the venue, Japan is one of Lamborghini's most important markets. He stated thatThe Huracán, well-received at its World Premierehas already received considerable positive feedback in Japan even before its official announcement.

There are already nearly 100 back orders in Japan alone, with a delivery time of approximately one year for those orders. For new orders placed now, the delivery time is expected to be one and a half years. Given the strong start, the company seems to be prioritizing quality and aiming for improved reputation this year, its debut year, rather than setting ambitious sales targets.
