Entry Model Allows Selection of Desired Options

Mercedes-Benz has improved the equipment for the "C 180 Coupe," which features a 1.8-liter inline-4 turbo engine, and launched it on June 11th.

The changes include the adoption of the "Radar Safety Package," previously a ¥226,200 option, along with seat heaters and privacy glass as standard. Despite these enhancements, the price has been set at ¥4,665,000, a modest increase of just ¥37,000 from the previous model.

Additionally, the "C 180 Coupe Trend" has been released, with some equipment made optional to keep the standard price, including consumption tax, below ¥4,000,000. This model features simplified standard equipment, allowing for the selection of luxury features such as the aforementioned Radar Safety Package and Intelligent Light System, as well as sporty options like the sports suspension and AMG styling package, according to customer preference.

Furthermore, the standard tires have been changed from 18-inch to 16-inch, resulting in improved fuel efficiency. When no options are selected, the C 180 Coupe Trend achieves 14.4 km/ℓ in JC08 mode, compared to the previous C 180 Coupe's 13.2 km/ℓ, representing an improvement of nearly 10% in fuel economy.

With these changes, the lineup and prices (including consumption tax) for the C Class Coupe in Japan have been consolidated into three models: the entry-level "C 180 Trend Coupe" at ¥3,990,000, the "C 180 Coupe" at ¥4,665,000, and the ultimate current C Class Coupe, the " C 63 AMG Coupe Edition 507" (¥12,548,000), which features further engineering refinements from the high-performance AMG models.

C Class Sedan, and Wagon have already undergone model changes in their home market, and the appearance of the coupe is also highly anticipated soon, suggesting that opportunities to purchase the current generation are dwindling.
