Proven Utility and Durability with the Gallardo
Lamborghini has manufactured a patrol car equipped with police gear for its newly debutedHuracan LP610-4, and donated it to the Italian Police this month.
The "Gallardo" successor, unveiled at theGeneva Motor Show" in March of this year, is a supercar equipped with a newly developed 5.2-liter V10 engine. It boasts a maximum output of 610 ps and a maximum torque of 560 Nm, achieving 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 325 km/h.
The relationship between the Italian Police and Lamborghini began in 2004 with the donation of a Gallardo. This vehicle covered over 140,000 km in four years. Furthermore, it was replaced with an updated model in 2008, which has also clocked over 110,000 km by this year.
During this period, both vehicles were operated with only standard maintenance, demonstrating their durability and ease of maintenance despite being supercars.
The newly introduced police-spec Huracan LP610-4 is equipped with police radio, a manual traffic sign, and the latest video system. The camera footage, linked with GPS, is transmitted in real-time to the police station along with location and speed data, and even integrates with a vehicle number recognition system.
The Huracan, expected to be utilized in scenarios requiring higher speed performance than other patrol cars, also features a special specification for its light bar. The slim light bar mounted on the roof is composed of powerful, compact LEDs that emit a strong light while minimizing aerodynamic drag to the utmost.
The previous Gallardo, leveraging its high dynamic performance, was used not only for patrols but also for emergency medical transport. The Huracan will feature a refrigerated compartment in its front luggage space for the transport of transplant organs.
The Huracan patrol car is scheduled to be deployed to the field within the year and begin protecting Italian roads.
