Orange Accents Evoke the Clay Court
Among the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments, the French Open is unique for being played on clay courts. This year's tournament begins Sunday, May 25th, in Paris, and Peugeot has supported its organization as a sponsor for the past 30 years. In recent years, the company has released a special edition car each year to coincide with the event.
This year's special edition is the "208 Roland Garros," based on the compact hatchback "208." It shares its name with the tournament venue and is named after the pioneering aviator Roland Garros.
The "208 Roland Garros" is powered by a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbo engine paired with a 5-speed single-clutch automated manual transmission. It is based on the "Cielo" trim, an upper-grade model featuring a panoramic glass roof. The body color is Satin White, chosen to evoke the early summer of France, a color consistent with recent Roland Garros models.
Special equipment includes exterior accents like orange door mirrors, reminiscent of clay courts, and a unique design for the 16-inch alloy wheels. The interior features leather seats with orange stitching, and the door inner grips and seatbelts are also coordinated in the theme color. Additionally, unique PEUGEOT lettering on the front and rear, along with custom floor mats, pay homage to the prestigious tournament both inside and out.
Only 100 units will be sold. The price is 2.57 million yen, 100,000 yen more than the "Cielo" model.
