Currently, Mercedes-Benz Japan operates two brand communication hubs, "Mercedes-Benz Connection," in Tokyo's Roppongi and Osaka's Umeda.Mercedes-Benz ConnectionThe first Mercedes-Benz facility, established in July 2011, has already welcomed over 2.3 million visitors.First Mercedes-Benz facility opened in July 2011has already welcomed over 2.3 million visitors.

The newly launched "Mercedes me" serves as a pilot store for "Mercedes me," a comprehensive customer service initiative that Daimler, the parent company, announced in March of this year for global expansion.

The envisioned "Mercedes me" is a service centered around a digital platform, offering a variety of services. These include mobility services like car rentals and car sharing called "move me"; connectivity services enabling customers to access their vehicles anytime, anywhere, called "connect me"; personalized after-sales services called "assist me"; financial services such as loans, leases, and insurance called "finance me"; and a business innovation community for co-creating future services with customers called "inspire me."

In addition to these digital services, the newly opened, limited-time physical location, Mercedes me, aims to delight visitors with four key elements: "Show," "Space," "Food," and "Music."

"Show" features displays of the latest Mercedes-Benz vehicles. "Space" is a lounge furnished with Japan's first collection of Mercedes-Benz designed furniture. "Music" is a collaboration with J-Wave, providing music to enhance the ambiance. "FOOD" offers sweets and light meals at "Garrett café meet DOWNSTAIRS," a unique cafe born from a collaboration between "DOWNSTAIRS COFFEE," known for its latte art by a world champion, and the renowned Chicago-based popcorn brand "Garrett Popcorn Shops."

Notably, the "FOOD" section is particularly exciting as it's the world's first collaboration between "DOWNSTAIRS COFFEE," which has a strong reputation at Mercedes-Connection, and "Garrett Popcorn Shops," a brand that consistently draws long queues. This unique partnership offers special menu items available only at this location.

The First Store in a Global Rollout

The domestic "Mercedes me" service is scheduled to launch via its website this summer, and preparations for its introduction in Japan are underway. Naturally, the "Mercedes me" service itself aims for both digital and physical presence, and as a pilot for this, the world's first store has opened in Japan, where Mercedes-Benz Connection has a proven track record.Mercedes-BenzConnection, leading to the opening of the world's first store.

In particular, the Mercedes-Connection in Osaka, which opened as a tenant in the "Grand Front" complex, has attracted more visitors by chance than the standalone facility in Tokyo. In just about a year since its opening, it has seen approximately 1.1 million visitors. Based on this success, Tokyo Midtown was chosen to attract a wider audience. Following this world's first store, plans are in place to open 40 "Mercedes me" locations worldwide.

The Mercedes-Benz "G 63 AMG 6x6," with its domestic allocation of five units priced at 80 million yen each, will also be on display at Mercedes me for the time being. The "Mercedes me" space, where visitors can relax on furniture designed by Mercedes-Benz, enjoy special cafe treats, and admire a monstrous machine, opens on Thursday, May 1st.
