AMG-Tuned A 250 SPORT 4WD Variant Arrives in Japan

Mercedes-BenzOn April 22nd, Japan welcomed the launch of the A250 SPORT 4MATIC,A-Classthe all-wheel-drive version of the top-tier A 250 SPORT model.

Equipped with a Variable Torque Distribution All-Wheel-Drive System

The A 250 SPORT 4MATIC, which had already gone on sale in Germany last autumn,A 250 SPORT 4MATIChas now arrived in Japan. This model features the "4MATIC" variable torque distribution all-wheel-drive system, developed with AMG's involvement from the initial stages of design, a detail emphasized in its name, theA 250 SPORT

The powertrain consists of a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder direct-injection turbo engine producing a maximum output of 155 kW (211 hp) at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 350 Nm (35.7 kgm) between 1,200 and 4,000 rpm. Furthermore, it incorporates an AMG-developed front axle and suspension, with specialized engineering for the SPORT model applied to the transmission and steering.

The variable torque distribution all-wheel-drive system, developed for a vehicle based on front-wheel drive, utilizes an electro-hydraulic multi-plate clutch to continuously vary the front-to-rear torque distribution between 100:0 and 50:50, ensuring optimal handling and driving stability. The torque distribution characteristics are controlled in conjunction with the shift program of the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, "7G-DCT."

The exterior showcases AMG's signature SPORT aesthetic with red accents throughout, highlighting its special status. Inside, red accents on the steering wheel, seats, seatbelts, and air vents create a sporty cabin ambiance.

Additionally, safety features include the optional "Radar Safety Package," which incorporates "CPA Plus" for automatic emergency braking when a collision is unavoidable, and "DISTRONIC PLUS" with a traffic-follow function that maintains an appropriate distance to the vehicle ahead and can bring the car to a stop if the lead vehicle stops.

The price, including consumption tax, is 4,577,000 yen.
