3.4-Liter Flat-Six Engine Now Delivers 330ps/340ps

The "GTS" designation, added to the "Boxster" and "Cayman" this time, is a prestigious name first used on the "904 Carrera GTS" that debuted in 1963. The name was carried on by the FR models "924 Carrera GTS" (1981) and "928 GTS" (1992), and has more recently been used for the "Panamera" and "Cayenne." The "924 Carrera GTS" in particular was a popular limited-edition model, known as an ultra-lightweight version featuring overfenders and fixed headlights.

For the current Boxster and Cayman, the "GTS" name is honored with an uprated 3.4-liter flat-six engine, a high-performance PASM chassis, and an aggressive exterior. These models are positioned as top-tier variants offering enhanced power and a distinctive appearance.



The "GTS" models are equipped with a dedicated 3.4-liter, six-cylinder boxer engine based on the unit found in the "Boxster S" and "Cayman S," but with an 11kW (15ps) increase in output. The Boxster GTS achieves a maximum output of 243kW (330ps), while the Cayman GTS delivers 250kW (340ps). Maximum torque has also been increased by 10Nm (1.02kgm).

Both models come standard with the Sport Chrono package. In the fastest "Sport Plus" mode, the PDK-equipped Boxster GTS achieves 0-100km/h in 4.7 seconds. The PDK-equipped Cayman GTS reportedly shaves off another 0.1 seconds from that time. For manual transmission models, the Boxster GTS has a top speed of 281km/h, while the Cayman GTS reaches 285km/h. Both models are the first two-seater mid-ship sports cars to meet Euro 6 emissions standards. The PDK versions of both cars achieve a fuel economy of 12.2km/liter (11.1km/liter for the 6MT).

Exterior and Interior Differentiated with Special Features

The front and rear sections are clearly distinguished from other grades. The front spoiler features a unique shape and a black finish on its lower section, while the enlarged air intakes are also emphasized with a black finish.PorscheBi-xenon headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) and glossy, silky black emblems contribute to an aggressive image.

Inside, the interior features a "GTS" logo within the tachometer. Similar to other "GTS" models, Alcantara is used for the sport seats, steering wheel, lower dashboard, door trims, and center console box, creating a sporty ambiance. The "GTS" logo is also embossed on the headrests.



As with other Porsche models, the interior color scheme and stitching can be freely selected. The accompanying photos show specifications with a crimson tachometer, red seat stitching, and red emblems on the headrests.

The cars come standard with 20-inch "Carrera S Wheels" fitted with front 235/35 and rear 265/35 tires. Naturally, owners can also choose from a wide array of optional wheels to suit their preferences.

As deliveries will commence after April 1st, the prices including the 8% consumption tax are as follows: the Boxster GTS with a 6-speed manual transmission is ¥8.85 million, and the 7-speed PDK is ¥9.49 million. For the Cayman GTS, the 6-speed manual is ¥9.15 million, and the 7-speed PDK is ¥9.79 million.
