Featuring "Grip Control" to Manage Engine Torque and Brakes
The "3008" first went on sale in Japan in 2010 as Peugeot's inaugural crossover vehicle. As the model name suggests, it is based on the C-segment "308," and the four-digit naming convention is Peugeot's recent practice for new concept cars such as SUVs and MPVs.
The powertrain combines a 1.6-liter turbo engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission, housed within a sporty body measuring 4,365mm in length, 1,835mm in width, and 1,635mm in height. It delivers a maximum output of 115kW (156ps) at 6,000rpm and peak torque of 240Nm (24.5kgm) between 1,400-3,500rpm.
In this facelift, new Peugeot lettering has been added above the front grille. Equipped with LED position lamps in the headlights (halogen for Premium, bi-xenon for Cielo) and fog lamps framed in chrome, it presents a more assertive appearance.
The rear design has also been transformed with a sharper look, thanks to LED combination lamps. The 16-inch alloy wheels have been updated to a new "ISARA" design, and the higher-grade "Cielo" model now comes standard with a color head-up display.
In conjunction with this facelift, "Grip Control," an evolution of the conventional traction control system, has been newly adopted. It manages engine torque and brakes applied to the driven wheels, ensuring smoother driving on slippery surfaces. In addition to "Normal Mode" and "Off," Grip Control offers three modes tailored to road conditions: "Snow," "Mud," and "Sand." Combined with the standard-issue Michelin mud and snow tires, it delivers optimal off-road capability.
Pricing starts at 3.29 million yen for the entry-level "Premium" grade and 3.59 million yen for the higher-grade "Cielo."
