The second-generation model is more compact than its predecessor, and is said to offer improved environmental performance through features like a direct-injection engine.

Its dimensions are 4833mm long, 1910mm wide, and 1668mm high. While 66mm wider than the previous model, it is 117mm shorter in length and 54mm lower in height. The wheelbase is 2807mm, also reduced by 150mm.

The engine has also been scaled down. Specifically, compared to the previous generation's 3.6-liter V6 (255 hp, 35.1 kgm) and 4.6-liter V8 (320 hp, 43.6 kgm), the new model features a 3.0-liter V6 direct-injection (260 hp, 30.6 kgm) and a 2.8-liter V6 turbo (300 hp, 40.8 kgm). Both are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive are available. The 4WD system, in particular, has seen significant advancements with the integration of an electric eLSD. This allows torque to be distributed not only front-to-rear but also side-to-side, ensuring efficient torque allocation even on slippery surfaces and dramatically improving control.

The exterior design draws inspiration from the "Provoq Fuel Cell Concept" unveiled at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show, giving it a more SUV-like appearance. The interior is finished with effective use of wood, leather, and aluminum, creating a luxurious and distinctly Cadillac feel.

The new Cadillac SRX will be officially unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show, opening on January 11.
