The Goldfish Smart Car Can Be Seen in Person

The "smart fortwo" is a two-seater compact car with a total length of 2,740mm, a height of 1,540mm, and a width of 1,560mm, making its body exceptionally small. It is equipped with a 1-liter, 3-cylinder engine that delivers a maximum output of 52kW (71ps). Manufactured and sold by Mercedes-Benz, it is praised not only for its agile driving performance but also for its robust body and high safety standards.

For this exhibition, the body of the smart car has been uniquely and boldly wrapped with works shot by Kishin Shinoyama, a photographer who pursues Japanese aesthetics, using the motif of gracefully swimming goldfish.

This unique collaboration has resulted in a one-of-a-kind art car, which will be on display at the "ECO EDO Nihonbashi Diners Club Art Aquarium 2013 ~Coolness of Edo Goldfish~" exhibition, running until September 23 (Monday, holiday) at Nihonbashi Mitsui Hall.

This event focuses on "goldfish," which have been cherished by the Japanese since the Edo period. It fuses traditional Japanese motifs in the design of the aquariums with the latest in lighting and visual effects. It is a fantastical art aquarium that evokes the nostalgic atmosphere of old Edo. Last summer, it captivated 200,000 visitors, and it is being held again this year as a summer tradition in Nihonbashi.
