Plug-in Hybrid Also Officially Previewed

As previously reported, the new Mercedes-BenzS-Classwill finally go on sale in Germany tomorrow, July 20th.



The new S-Class has already received 20,000 orders. As anticipated, the model lineup starts with three grades. All models are available in both short and long wheelbase versions and are equipped with efficient powertrains compliant with EU6 standards.


Furthermore, the "S 300 BlueTEC HYBRID" diesel hybrid model is scheduled for early 2014, followed by the "S 500 Plug-in Hybrid," which will eventually achieve fuel consumption below 4 liters per 100 km.



Detailed specifications for each model are as follows.



The "S 350 BlueTEC" is powered by a 2,987cc V6 diesel engine, delivering a maximum output of 190 kW (258 hp) at 3,600 rpm and a peak torque of 620 Nm between 1,600-2,400 rpm. Fuel consumption is 5.5 L/100 km (5.6 L/100 km for the long wheelbase), with CO2 emissions at 146 g/km (148 g/km). It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.8 seconds.



The "S 400 HYBRID" features a 3,498cc V6 engine with a maximum output of 225 kW (306 hp) at 6,500 rpm and a torque of 370 Nm between 3,500-5,250 rpm. Combined with a 20 kW electric motor, it achieves fuel consumption of 6.3 L/100 km and CO2 emissions of 147 g/km. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h is also 6.8 seconds.



The top-tier "S 500" is equipped with a 4,663cc V8 engine, producing 335 kW (455 hp) at 5,250 rpm and 700 Nm of torque between 1,800-3,500 rpm. It offers fuel economy of 8.6 L/100 km and CO2 emissions of 199 g/km. The 0-100 km/h sprint is impressively fast at 4.8 seconds.



Specifications for the diesel hybrid model, "S 300 BlueTEC HYBRID," have also been released. It uses a 2,143cc inline-4 diesel engine with a maximum output of 150 kW (204 hp) at 4,200 rpm and peak torque of 500 Nm between 1,600-1,800 rpm, coupled with a 20 kW electric motor. Fuel consumption is 4.4 L/100 km, CO2 emissions are 115 g/km, and 0-100 km/h acceleration is 7.6 seconds.

This S-Class was developed with a focus on the long wheelbase model for the first time in its history. The rear seats are the prime spot.
