The S 63 AMG Revealed
Mercedes-AMG hasnext-generation S-Classreleased the first details of its AMG model, the "S 63 AMG."

S-Class Model Change AnnouncementThe AMG model of the new S-Class, which was not mentioned at the time of the S-Class model change announcement, has finally had its first details revealed by Mercedes-AMG, after much anticipation for information on this high-performance luxury saloon.
The information released this time covers three variations: the short-wheelbase and long-wheelbase models of the "S 63 AMG," and the long-wheelbase "S 63 AMG 4MATIC" all-wheel-drive model.
The 4WD model distributes torque to the front at a fixed ratio of 33 percent and to the rear at 67 percent. The mechanism is integrated into the transmission, contributing to space-saving and weight reduction, with an increase of only 70kg.
The engine is a 5.5-liter V8 twin-turbo, the "M 157," AMG's latest high-efficiency unit, already familiar in models bearing the "63" designation. Maximum output is 430kW (585ps), an increase of 30kW (41ps) over the previous generation, and maximum torque is 900Nm, an improvement of 100Nm. It is paired with the "AMG Speedshift MCT 7-speed sports transmission," which replaces the torque converter with a multi-plate clutch, as used in recent AMG models.
Furthermore, with a weight reduction of up to approximately 100kg compared to the previous generation, fuel economy is favorable at 10.1-10.3ℓ/100km (NEDC measurement) and CO2 emissions are 237-242g/km.
This weight reduction is attributed to the adoption of forged lightweight alloy wheels, the use of a lithium-ion battery, and a lightweight composite brake system. The fact that the new S-Class's body panels are themselves made of aluminum also appears to be a significant factor. Additionally, the spare wheel housing is made of carbon fiber, achieving a weight saving of 4kg.
The standard tires are 19-inch with sizes 255/45 at the front and 285/40 at the rear, but 20-inch tires with sizes 255/40 and 285/35 are available as an option.
In terms of performance, the 0-100km/h acceleration figures of 4.4 seconds for the rear-wheel-drive model and 4.0 seconds for the 4MATIC model, surpassing those of rivals in the same class, have been released.
Incidentally, according to the information released this time, the "S 63 AMG Long wheelbase" is only available in right-hand drive specification.
In its home market, the "S 63 AMG" short-wheelbase model is priced at 149,880.50 Euros, and the "S 63 AMG 4MATIC" at 152,617.50 Euros.
