1.6 Liters, Yet 850 Horsepower

The Jaguar "C-X75 Concept" is a hybrid car that began development to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Jaguar brand and was exhibited at the 2010 Paris Motor Show as a "sustainable sports car."

Ian CallumIts sleek design, penned by Mr. Callum, boasted racing-car-level specifications with a maximum output of 580kW and a maximum torque of 1,600Nm. Although a limited production run of 250 units was announced for 2011,Limited Production of 250 Units Announcedits commercialization was unfortunately cancelled in 2012 due to the worsening economic climate.

The prototype unveiled this time is a refined version, a plug-in hybrid supercar employing a parallel system where two electric motors assist the gasoline engine.

The engine is a 1.6-liter inline-four, utilizing both a supercharger and a turbocharger to achieve a maximum output of 502 bhp at 10,000 rpm. The two electric motors assisting this engine provide a maximum output of 390 bhp, bringing the total system output to 850 bhp. It accelerates from a standstill to 100 mph (160 km/h) in under 6 seconds and has a top speed exceeding 220 mph (340 km/h).

The C-X75 Prototype, positioned as an environmentally conscious supercar, demonstrates its sustainability with CO2 emissions of just 89g/km and an electric-only (EV mode) range of up to 60 km.

This C-X75 Concept, boasting such high performance and low environmental impact, incorporates cutting-edge technologies that go a step beyond those currently used in Jaguar's production vehicles. These include Jaguar's first carbon composite monocoque chassis, carbon composite body panels, the aforementioned 1.6-liter inline-four engine, and a plug-in hybrid system.
