The new addition to the E-Class lineup is the "E280," powered by a newly developed 3-liter V6 DOHC 4-valve engine. This new engine has already received certification for the "75% reduction level of 2005 emission standards" from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Furthermore, the "E280 Station Wagon" is the first imported car to qualify for tax reductions under the "Green Vehicle Incentive System."

All E-Class models now come equipped with the "NECK-PRO Active Headrest," a system designed to reduce whiplash injuries in the event of a rear-end collision, and bi-xenon headlights featuring the "Active Curve System" that illuminates the road ahead according to steering angle for enhanced forward visibility.
