Transmission Also Updated to Latest 8-Speed Automatic

The "308" underwent a full model change in 2016. Following the introduction of a downsized 1.5-liter clean diesel engine last December, the gasoline engine has now been refreshed.

The new gasoline engine is a 1.2-liter inline 3-cylinder turbo, compliant with the latest European environmental regulations. It features a newly adopted injection system, with fuel pump pressure increased to 250 bar and the turbocharger now electronically controlled to meet emissions standards.

It produces a maximum output of 96kW (130ps) at 5,500rpm and a maximum torque of 230Nm at 1,750rpm. The transmission is also an electronically controlled 8-speed automatic (EAT8), the same as in the diesel models. This means that all 308 models, excluding the GTi, are now equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission and paddle shifters.

This transmission offers three selectable drive modes. In Eco mode, the new freewheeling function disengages the clutch when the accelerator is released under suitable driving conditions, contributing to improved fuel efficiency.

Active Cruise Control has also been made standard equipment on all models.

The grades and prices for the new gasoline engine models are: "308 Allure" at ¥2,839,000, the station wagon "308 SW Allure" at ¥3,087,000, and the sporty special edition "308 GT Line" at ¥3,089,000.
