New Hydraulic System for Roof Allows Opening/Closing in 12 Seconds

At the Los Angeles Motor Show last November,The 8th Generation 911, which had its world premiere. The open-top models derived from it,"911 Carrera S Cabriolet" and "911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet"are now available for reservation.

Both models are powered by a 2,981cc horizontally opposed 6-cylinder turbo engine, producing a maximum output of 331 kW (450 hp) at 6,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 530 Nm at 2,300-5,000 rpm, paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (PDK).



The rear-wheel-drive S Cabriolet accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 306 km/h. The all-wheel-drive 4S Cabriolet achieves 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 304 km/h. With the optional Sport Chrono Package, acceleration times are reduced by 0.2 seconds for each model.

The roof is a soft top, similar to the previous model, and thanks to a new hydraulic system, it can be opened or closed in just 12 seconds. It operates even while driving at speeds below 50 km/h.

The announced prices are 18.91 million yen for the S Cabriolet and 19.97 million yen for the 4S Cabriolet. While reservations have begun in Japan, the official release date remains undecided.
