Arriving in its 50th Anniversary Year

Just under three months after its world premiere at the Detroit Motor Show in the United States, the new Quattroporte has finally arrived in Japan.

The 7th generation Maserati luxury saloon, the Quattroporte, has undergone a full model change. The model introduced in Japan is the 'GT S' equipped with a newly designed 3.8-liter V8 twin-turbo engine, which is expected to become the mainstay of Maserati's lineup going forward.

This engine was developed by engineers who were responsible for engine design at Scuderia Ferrari. As with the previous model, Ferrari is in charge of its manufacturing.

At the time of its announcement in Detroit, alongside this 3.8-liter V8 engine, a downsizing 3-liter V6 engine and Maserati's first-ever 4WD system were also topics of discussion. However, no announcements were made regarding these models on this occasion.

Specifications include a maximum output of 390 kW (530 ps) and a maximum torque of 710 Nm (72.4 kgm). The body, measuring 5,262 mm in length, 1,948 mm in width, and 1,481 mm in height, weighs 1,900 kg. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 307 km/h.

The transmission has been changed from the conventional 6-speed AT to an 8-speed AT from ZF. Furthermore, thanks to the benefits of the enlarged body while maintaining a lighter weight, rear legroom has increased by over 100 mm, and trunk capacity has expanded by 80 liters compared to the previous generation.

The sales price in Japan is 16.9 million yen. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in June.

Additionally, on the stage at the Quattroporte's announcement, President Fabrizio Cazzoli revealed that the company plans to launch the E-segment sedan 'Ghibli' in the around 5 million yen price range, and the 'Levante,' Maserati's first-ever SUV, in the around 10 million yen price range, though launch dates are yet to be determined. This announcement caused a stir in the venue.
