An Interior Befitting the Pinnacle of the Mercedes Brand
The "S-Class" is Mercedes-Benz's proud flagship saloon. The full model change for the S-Class is now imminent, and its interior and features have finally been revealed.
The dashboard features a quilted leather upper section, separated by a chrome strip from a three-dimensional wood panel. These elements continue seamlessly as trim, encircling the front seats and emphasizing an overall horizontal design.
Behind the steering wheel, a digital LCD screen replaces the analog instrument cluster. Adjacent to it, a large 12.3-inch LCD is installed in the center console, displaying various controls, navigation maps, and entertainment.
The seats, developed in-house by Mercedes-Benz, also showcase a commitment befitting a top-tier model. The rear seats are positioned as "First Class," with a deeper reclining angle. Additionally, in the event of an accident during reclining, an airbag located beneath the seat cushion deploys to prevent the "submarine phenomenon," where a prone occupant could slip out from under the seatbelt.
These electric seats, which are 20 percent lighter than their predecessors, feature a unique "ENERGIZING" massage function. Six massage programs are available, utilizing a total of 14 air chambers, with two of these offering a heated massage.
For climate control, air conditioning with individual temperature settings for each seat drives up to 21 motors to optimize cabin temperature. Furthermore, enhanced filters and an ion air purification function remove harmful substances, providing clean air inside the cabin. An optional package also functions as a fragrance diffuser.
The multimedia system is also state-of-the-art, offering Wi-Fi hotspot functionality, internet access, and social media use directly from the display. Moreover, the front display features a "Multi-View" function that uses prism technology to show different images to the driver and front passenger simultaneously. This allows the driver to view navigation while the passenger enjoys TV without distraction. The rear entertainment system, with 10.2-inch screens integrated into the front headrests for rear passengers, can also be operated independently, allowing for a total of four separate viewing experiences within the car.
In terms of audio, similar to the system adopted in the "SL-Class", the standard front bass system utilizes the hollow cavities of the cross and side members, which reinforce the body, as acoustic chambers, eliminating the need for in-cabin woofers. In addition to the standard 10-speaker audio, optional systems include the "Burmester Surround System," co-developed with Burmester, and the "Burmester High-End 3D Surround System" with 24 speakers delivering a total output of 1,540 watts.
The S-Class is rumored to be officially announced before the summer this year. It is undoubtedly set to become a new focal point in the luxury saloon segment.
