Commemorative Photo at the Special Window Display
On a certain day in September, as the humid summer air began to give way to the crisp evening chill, a one-night-only special party, "FASHION AS MUSIC SPECIAL PARTY supported by CADILLAC," was held at the "Barneys New York Ginza flagship store" in collaboration with Cadillac.
On display was a special window by creative director Katsuhiko Taniguchi for Cadillac x Barneys New York, delighting visitors. The window featured a sporty, chic coordination for men and women, primarily in monochrome but accented with high-quality materials and vivid colors reminiscent of Piet Mondrian's works, which famously inspired the Cadillac logo motif in the 1920s.
Beside it, a cube-shaped signage screen displayed footage of Cadillacs driving stylishly through the streets of New York, while the history of the crest logo's evolution was narrated in text, much like in a museum.
Condensing past and future, time and depth, the direct and powerful expression certainly speaks to something quintessentially New York about both brands. What's interesting is that an entrance was created from within the store to the window display, allowing any visitor to step inside and take a commemorative photo. This openness and cheerful spirit, unique to New York and unlike any other city, was truly on display.
Drawn by the allure of this exclusive evening party, guests began to gather around 7 PM on the B1 men's floor of the Barneys New York Ginza store, each dressed in their finest. This party also marked the start of a weekend sales fair at the store. Guests were treated to sparkling wine, non-alcoholic cocktails, craft cider, colorful canapés, fruit cocktails, and mini hamburgers, among other finger foods. The usual sales floor buzzed with an unusual energy, filled with the murmur of conversation.

Enchanting Live Performance by WONK
Soon, the night's main act, a special live performance by WONK, began. Billing themselves as an "experimental soul band," their sound, infused with elements of R&B and the jazz fusion of its golden age, felt like a jam session by New York studio musicians. To enjoy their tight, comfortable groove surrounded by the latest fashion items curated by Barneys New York was a luxurious evening, truly befitting a Cadillac party.
Regarding this event, Ms. Yano, Marketing & Communications Manager at Barneys New York, commented as follows:
"Barneys has collaborated with various brands in many forms, but this is the first event with Cadillac that has so strongly centered on New York. I believe our customers were able to enjoy the sophisticated, unsweetened, and sharp atmosphere of New York."
Mr. Abe, PR Manager at Cadillac Japan, also explained:
"While inheriting a long history, Cadillac has been rebranding since the beginning of the 21st century. We are proud that this was a wonderfully valuable collaboration, allowing us to offer an experience intertwined with fashion and music, not just the luxury of a car, but as part of a lifestyle that includes Cadillac, especially to a younger generation. Yes, it would be great if we could hold more events like this."
Chic yet open-minded, allowing easy connections to what one loves. Brands are not just proof of luxury and quality, but also keywords for creating such communities.
