Alfa Romeo's First SUV, the Stelvio, Gets a Limited Edition of 400 Units

Alfa Romeo has launched the new SUV "Stelvio" in Japan. The company announced that the "First Edition," a special model commemorating the launch, will be sold in a limited run of 400 units starting Saturday, July 21.

Sporting Performance Inherited from the Giulia

The "Stelvio," Alfa Romeo's first premium SUV, takes its name from the Stelvio Pass, located in the Italian Alps and renowned as a mecca for motorists.

Furthermore, the Stelvio's top-tier model, the "Quadrifoglio," generated significant buzz even before its Japanese release, having set a new production SUV lap record of 7 minutes and 51.7 seconds on the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany last year.

The Stelvio arrives as the second flagship model representing the new generation of Alfa Romeo, following the sports sedan "Giulia" that debuted in Japan last September. Alfa Romeo claims that the vehicle inherits the Giulia's powertrain, including its engine and carbon propeller shaft, as well as its "Alfa Link suspension" that extensively utilizes aluminum. These components are said to contribute to its driving stability and handling performance.

The "First Edition" special edition model, featuring exclusive interior and exterior enhancements, is equipped with an aluminum-block 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder turbo engine. This engine, shared with the "Giulia Veloce," produces a maximum output of 206 kW (280 ps) and a peak torque of 400 Nm (40.8 kgm). Power is delivered to all four wheels via a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission, achieving 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds.

The exterior utilizes lightweight aluminum for the hood, front fenders, and door outer panels. Despite its SUV styling, it boasts a flowing form, complemented by 20-inch twin-spoke alloy wheels.

The interior is appointed with premium leather seats and wood paneling as special features. Additional comfort amenities include power seats and a heated leather steering wheel.

The limited edition model will be available in four body colors: white, red, gray, and black, with 100 units of each color, totaling 400 units. The price is set at 6.89 million yen.
