The Long-Awaited Open-Top Model
The "Aventador," which debuted in the summer of 2011 as Lamborghini's flagship model. Its open-top version was globally unveiled last November,Aventador Roadsterand has already made its Japan debut today.
This V12 mid-engine open-top model, inheriting Lamborghini's tradition that began with the legendary Miura Roadster in 1968, is also the successor to the previous Murciélago Roadster. While its styling, like the coupe model, features multiple geometric lines, the adoption of an open body has further enhanced its "Aventador-ness." A new design treatment, called the "spinal column," extends from the removable roof to the engine hood, giving it an almost armored appearance.
The roof is a two-piece, manually removable carbon fiber component, with each piece weighing less than 6kg, making removal extremely easy. When open, the roof can be stored in the front luggage compartment.
The body color has been newly added with "Azzurro Tethys," a metallic blue reminiscent of the original color of the Miura Roadster, as a tribute to the classic model. Additionally, the roof section, continuing from the window pillars, is finished in gloss black for a two-tone effect, further accentuating the design.
Meanwhile, the interior uses leather named "Sabbia Nefertem," with a changed design theme, boldly incorporating handmade craftsmanship.
The powertrain is the same as the coupe model: a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine boasting a maximum output of 700ps. It is, of course, equipped with the latest unit featuring a start-stop mechanism and cylinder deactivation for low engine load, as announced at the Paris Motor Show.Announced at Paris Motor ShowFurthermore, it achieves an astonishing 0-100 km/h acceleration in 3.0 seconds (0.1 seconds slower than the coupe) and a top speed of 350 km/h, the same as the coupe.
At the announcement event, Mr. Egidio Bertoli, Country Manager of Lamborghini Japan, commented on the Roadster: "This car was born from the idea of creating a more exclusive car, making driving more exciting, and creating a car that better matches our customers' lifestyles." The coupe model has already achieved success with over 1,300 units delivered worldwide, and the arrival of the Roadster is expected to further increase the number of customers awaiting delivery.
The price in Japan has been announced as 46,603,200 yen. Delivery to customers is scheduled for next spring. At the "Lamborghini Christmas Cafe" in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo, which served as the venue for this event,Lamborghini Christmas Cafethe car will be on display today, December 14th only. Those interested are encouraged to visit.
