The second to fourth generations were sold in Japan under the Toyota brand as the "Windom." This seventh-generation model, aiming to evolve the "superior comfort" that is the ES's origin, is equipped with cutting-edge technologies such as the new GA-K platform, a 2.5-liter hybrid system, and the second-generation "Lexus Safety System +." A Japanese launch is also planned for around autumn 2018.

The new ES measures 4,975mm in length, 1,865mm in width, and 1,445mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,870mm. The exterior, thanks to the GA-K platform, achieves a wide and low proportion with a rearward placement of the front pillars and a sloped rear pillar, aiming for class-leading aerodynamic performance.

Furthermore, distinctive features that highlight Lexus's identity include the spindle grille, which combines a sharply creased frame with a mesh grille featuring ripple-like vertical fins, sharp, compact triple-LED headlights, and rear combination lamps with three layered L-shaped elements.

Body colors can be selected from a diverse range, including the new elegant Ice Ecru Metallic and the sophisticated Sunlight Green Mica Metallic.

Equipment for a Superior Driving Experience

The interior features a two-part upper and lower console design that integrates with the center armrest, creating a cockpit that allows for focused driving. The front seats have a shoulder shape that facilitates easy steering operation, while the rear seats offer both a sense of openness and security with electric reclining functions. The horizontal layout, with the instrument panel flowing seamlessly into the door trim, is also adopted.

To achieve the quietness inherited from previous ES generations, meticulous attention has been paid to noise source countermeasures, sound absorption, and sound insulation. Specifically, technologies refined in the flagship LS have been employed, including verification of body shape through wind tunnel experiments, optimal placement of sound-absorbing and insulating materials, noise-reduction wheels, and highly sound-insulating acoustic glass.

The powertrain features a hybrid system combining a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder gasoline engine with a compact battery located beneath the rear seats. This contributes to a lightweight, low-center-of-gravity design and increased luggage capacity, offering both outstanding fuel efficiency and a direct acceleration feel.

A sporty "F SPORT" grade is also available. To achieve superior handling stability and a refined ride, it features a linear solenoid-type AVS (Adaptive Variable Suspension System) with fine-tuned damping control and performance dampers installed at the front and rear of the body. The interior and exterior are enhanced with sporty elements such as a new F mesh pattern grille and side grilles, 19-inch wheels, seats, steering wheel, and meters.

Additionally, a new F SPORT exclusive aluminum ornament panel has been developed, inspired by "Tori," a finishing process in Japanese sword making. It features a pattern reminiscent of a sword's hamon, achieved through meticulous polishing techniques.

For safety, the new ES is equipped with the second-generation "Lexus Safety System +," which includes the advanced driver assistance function "Lexus CoDrive." While the "monocular camera + millimeter-wave radar" configuration from the first generation remains, each function has been enhanced. In particular, the vehicle's behavior during driver assistance has been refined to be more natural and reassuring for the driver.
