Lexus LC500 Special Edition "Structural Blue" Debuts

Exterior Color "Structural Blue" Inspired by Morpho Butterfly Wings
Toyota Motor Corporation's luxury brand "Lexus," which began domestic sales in 2005, launched the flagship coupe "LC" and underwent a full model change for the flagship sedan "LS". Currently, the lineup comprises 11 models, marking a progression towards a new generation of Lexus vehicles.
The LC special edition, commemorating Lexus's achievement of 500,000 cumulative domestic sales, is distinguished by its unique and vibrant body color, "Structural Blue," as its name suggests.
This blue hue is derived from the principle of "structural coloration," inspired by the wings of the Morpho butterfly, native to South America. While the Morpho butterfly's wings are colorless, their structure reflects and emphasizes specific wavelengths of light, making them appear to shimmer blue to the human eye.
Lexus spent 15 years developing automotive structural color pigments that replicate this principle. The result is a finish that achieves overwhelming vibrancy, intense luster, and deep shadows through light reflection, beautifully accentuating the body's contours.
The interior is offered in two exclusive color schemes, "Blue Moment" and "Breezy Blue," inspired by the ethereal sky during dawn and dusk, harmonizing with the special body color.
The Structural Blue special edition is available for both the "LC500h," featuring a 3.5-liter V6 engine and Multi-Stage Hybrid system (8GR-FXS), and the "LC500," equipped with a 5.0-liter V8 engine and 10-speed automatic transmission (2UR-GSE). Prices are ¥15.25 million and ¥14.75 million, respectively.
