Top Speed 300 km/h! Maserati's Fastest Road Sports Car

Announced at this year's "2012 Geneva International Motor Show" in March, the luxury GT sports car, the Maserati "GranTurismo Sport," has gone on sale in Japan.

The front houses a 4.7-liter V8 engine producing a maximum output of 460 ps and a maximum torque of 520 Nm. There are two transmission options, which correspond to the two available grades. The model equipped with a ZF 6-speed automatic transmission accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 298 km/h. In contrast, the model featuring a 6-speed semi-automatic transmission with a dry twin-plate clutch, the "MC Shift," achieves 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 300 km/h, making it the fastest Maserati road car to date.

The suspension utilizes the "Sport Skyhook System," designed to enhance comfort while maintaining sporty performance.

The wheels are 20-inch aluminum alloys fitted with front 265-width and rear 285-width tires. Behind them are slotted, drilled brake rotors. The Brembo brake calipers are 6-piston at the front and 4-piston at the rear, both being opposed-piston calipers.

Turning to the interior, the newly designed sports seats immediately catch the eye. They offer excellent support and are comfortable even on long drives. Furthermore, a new structural design for the rear shell of the front seats has expanded rear seat space by 20 millimeters compared to the previous model.

The dashboard area features a finish called "Grigio Dark Chrome," and the leather seats are crafted by the Italian interior brand "Poltrona Frau." The steering column features "Trofeo Design" shift paddles inspired by the racing model "Trofeo," and a newly developed, ergonomically designed steering wheel is also installed.

The price for the model with the ZF 6-speed automatic transmission is 17.5 million yen. The model with the 6-speed semi-automatic "MC Shift" transmission is 18 million yen.
