Valvetronic and Direct Injection Technology Finally Arrive for JCW
Among MINI models, the MINI John Cooper Works (JCW) offers the highest engine output and torque. Currently in Japan, JCW versions are available for the most basic "MINI (Hatch)" hatchback, the open-top "Convertible," and the wagon-bodied "Clubman", the two-seater "Coupe," and the open-top version of the Coupe, the "Roadster". However, all of these were previously only available with a manual transmission. BMW has now added a 6-speed automatic model to all of these MINI John Cooper Works variants.
Furthermore, as previously reported on OPENERS, the JCW version based on the "MINI Crossover," the "MINI John Cooper Works Crossover", which was the first JCW model to featureBMW's variable valve mechanism "Valvetronic" and direct injection technology, has now been adopted across all JCW models. While maintaining the same performance as before, these technologies also improve environmental efficiency.
The prices for the AT models are as follows: MINI John Cooper Works at 4.03 million yen, the Convertible at 4.53 million yen, the Clubman at 4.30 million yen, the Coupe at 4.39 million yen, and the Roadster at 4.64 million yen.
