System Combines Motor with Automatic Transmission
As previously previewed, the new LS was announced at the Detroit Motor Show held in January. The new LS's hybrid model, the "LS500h," made its appearance at the Geneva Motor Show.
The powertrain combines a 3.5-liter V6 engine, producing a maximum output of 220kW and peak torque of 350Nm, with two electric motors and a "Multi Stage Hybrid System" that incorporates a stepped automatic transmission. This mechanism allows for precise control of both the engine and motor outputs, generating a total system output of 264kW.
Like the LS500, the newly developed GA-L platform enables a low-slung, dynamic styling, creating a silhouette reminiscent of a coupe.
The interior draws inspiration from Japanese traditional crafts, featuring door trims with unique L-shaped pleats created by hand, and door trim ornaments crafted from toughened glass inspired by Kiriko cut glass. Incidentally, this design also won the Best Interior award at the Eyes on Design Awards at the Detroit Motor Show.
In addition, Lexus also exhibited the "RC F GT3," which had its world premiere at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January, at the Geneva Motor Show.
