A Special Limited Edition Sporty Diesel Model for the Volvo V40
Volvo Car Japan announced on Wednesday, January 25th, that it would release a special limited edition "R-Design Polestar Edition" for the diesel model "D4" of its short wagon "V40." Sales have begun with a limited production of 150 units.

Enhanced Performance and a More Sporty Exterior
Following the sporty grade "V40 D4 R-design" that debuted as a special edition model in December 2015,V40 D4 R-designa "Polestar Edition" with further power upgrades has been introduced.
The powertrain features the "D4" 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. By adopting the "Polestar Performance Software," the maximum output has been tuned from the base 190ps to 200ps. The maximum torque has also been increased to 440Nm, comparable to a 4-liter gasoline engine.

Furthermore, the "Polestar Performance Exhaust System" is also installed. In addition to the stainless steel exhaust system, it includes a rear diffuser and a sports air filter to enhance its powerful appearance and performance.
Volvo's signature safety features, such as the "Pedestrian Airbag" and the "Collision Avoidance and Mitigation System with Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection," are also standard equipment.
The body colors are available in four options: Ice White, Passion Red, Onyx Black Metallic, and the R-Design exclusive color, Bursting Blue Metallic. With a limited production of 150 units, the price is set at 4.49 million yen.
