Exclusive Fastback Style

Last year, the model underwent its first full model change in 10 years.Roadster. Following the previous generation, a retractable hardtop model has been introduced.

The first thing that catches the eye is the "fastback" style, characterized by a smoothly sloping line from the roof to the rear of the car. The electric roof has been evolved to open and close with just the flick of a switch, taking only 13 seconds. Mazda claims this is the world's fastest roof opening and closing time.

The engine is a 2.0-liter gasoline unit, "SKYACTIV-G 2.0," with a larger displacement than the soft-top model. It has been longitudinally mounted and specially tuned for the Roadster. Both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission are available, producing a maximum output of 116 kW (158 ps) and a maximum torque of 200 Nm (20.4 kgm).

Despite adopting an electric retractable roof, the luggage space retains nearly the same capacity as the soft-top model at 127 liters. Meanwhile, the cabin utilizes sound absorption and insulation technologies to achieve a quietness comparable to a regular passenger car when closed.

There are three grades: the basic "S," the higher-end "VS," and the "RS," which offers optional features like dedicated seats and Brembo brakes. All models are equipped with 17-inch aluminum wheels featuring a black metallic finish and an eight-spoke design.

Eight body colors are available. Prices range from 3,240,000 to 3,736,800 yen.
