Lexus GS Adds 2.0-Liter Direct-Injection Turbo Engine Model

Lexus has added the "GS200t," equipped with a 2.0-liter direct-injection turbo engine, to its mid-size saloon "GS." Additionally, minor improvements have been made to the high-performance "GSF" model, and sales have commenced.

GSF and GSF Sport Also Receive Minor Improvements

Since its adoption in the compact SUV "NX200t" NX200t, the 2.0-liter turbo engine has also been deployed in the SUV "RX",IS",RC",The GS Receives a Major Makeover" last year.

The engine produces a maximum output of 180 kW (245 ps) at 5,800 rpm and a maximum torque of 350 Nm (35.7 kgm) at 1,650-4,400 rpm. The transmission is an 8-speed Sport Direct Shift, based on a torque converter automatic. Among the GS lineup, which has included hybrid and 3.5-liter engines, the "GS200t" will be positioned as the entry-grade model, replacing the "GS250" that was previously equipped with a 2.5-liter inline-4 engine. Like the "GS300h," it will be FR drive only, with no AWD option available.

Additionally, as part of the minor improvements, a "Torsen LSD" with high torque distribution performance will be available as an option for the "GS200t" and "GS350 F Sport." This ensures traction performance for the rear tires, improving acceleration and contributing to stable driving on rough roads and snowy conditions.

Meanwhile, the high-performance grade "GSF" comes standard with "NAVI・SI-AVS," which links the electronic suspension with the navigation system. It is said to achieve both handling stability and a flat ride by pre-controlling the transmission based on cornering information from the navigation system and optimally controlling the shock absorber damping force electronically.

Furthermore, a "Custom Mode" has been newly added to the Drive Mode Select. This allows drivers to select their preferred combination of powertrain, chassis, and air conditioning controls.

A new "Dark Gray Mica" color is available for both the GS and GSF. The GS will be offered in 11 colors, and the GSF in 8 colors. Pricing for the GS200t with the new engine starts at 5.77 million yen. The top model, the GSF, will see a slight increase to 11.11 million yen.
