Smart Forfour and Fortwo with 3-cylinder turbo engine introduced

Mercedes-Benz Japan announced on the 3rd the "Smart fortwo cabrio limited," "Smart fortwo turbo matt limited," and the four-seater "Smart forfour turbo," all equipped with a 0.9-liter 3-cylinder turbo engine. Orders are now being accepted.

The top-grade turbo model for the Forfour

The third generation "Smart" was jointly developed with Renault's "Twingo" and a significant feature is the continuous introduction of only limited editions for the two-seater "Fortwo".

This time, new models with the 0.9-liter 3-cylinder turbo engine powertrain have been announced. All models produce a maximum output of 66kW (90ps) and a maximum torque of 135Nm. This is an increase of 14kW (19ps) in maximum output and 44Nm in maximum torque compared to the previous 1.0-liter naturally aspirated 3-cylinder engine. The transmission is a 6-speed DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission), with fuel economy recorded at 23.1 km/l for the Turbo Matt Limited and 22.0 km/l for the Cabrio and Forfour.

The two-seater open-top model, the "Fortwo Cabrio Limited," features an electric soft top that can be opened and closed at any time, regardless of driving speed. It is equipped with leather seats, creating a luxurious interior. The body colors are available in Rally Red, Yellow, Crystal White, and Deep Black. A total of 200 units will be sold, with 50 units of each color. The price is 2.48 million yen.

As the name suggests, the "Fortwo Turbo Matt Limited" is a model that stands out with its matte finish. The 16-inch black-painted alloy wheels and chrome exhaust tips add a sporty touch. The interior features luxurious leather seats and a panoramic roof. It is available in two body colors, Moon White Matt and Titania Grey Matt, with 40 units of each color sold. The price is 2.41 million yen.

The four-seater "Forfour Turbo" also features 16-inch black-painted alloy wheels and chrome exhaust tips. It is equipped with features that support sporty driving, such as paddle shifters, sports pedals, and a cockpit clock. This model is available in eight body colors, with no limit on the number of units sold, and represents the highest grade of the Forfour to date. The price is 2.56 million yen.
