New Face-Lifted DS 5 Launched in Japan

Peugeot Citroën Japon announced on April 5th the minor change and launch of the DS brand's flagship model, the "DS 5."

Fuel Efficiency Improved by 33 Percent with New Powertrain

Last year at the Tokyo Motor Show, to commemorate the brand's 60th anniversary, a limited edition modelDS 5 Edition 1955" was unveiled in Japan for the first time. The minor-changed version, theDS 5", has now been released as the catalog model "DS5 Chic."

The new DS 5, now an independent brand from Citroën,DS Brandadopts a new front design known as "DS Wings" as its flagship model. Along with the recently launched in Japan"DS 4" and "DS 4 Crossback", the "DS3" in its home market has also adopted this design, unifying the brand's identity.

The engine is the latest 1.6-liter four-cylinder DOHC with twin-scroll turbocharger, delivering a maximum output of 165 ps, a 9 ps increase over the previous model. It is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, "EAT6." Thanks to features like the stop-start system, fuel efficiency has improved by approximately 33 percent, achieving 15.0 km/ℓ under the JC08 test cycle.

The new DS 5 offers an optional "Chic Leather Package." This package includes exclusive features such as characteristic watch-strap seats upholstered in Bavarian semi-aniline leather, intelligent high beam, and a DENON Hi-Fi audio system.

Two new body colors, "Gris Arthens" and "Gris Platinum," have been added, bringing the total to seven colors. The DS5 Chic is priced at 4.09 million yen, and the DS5 Chic Leather Package at 4.54 million yen.
