Arriving as a Four-Wheel-Drive Model
With the pricing and specifications of the new A-Class finally revealed, an AMG version has already been announced. Dubbed the "A 45 AMG," this model is powered by a 2-liter four-cylinder turbo engine, producing a maximum torque of 400 Nm. While the maximum output remains undisclosed, rumors suggest it will be around 350 ps.
The transmission is an AMG Speedshift DCT 7-speed sports transmission with dual-clutch technology, and for the first time in an AMG model other than an SUV, it features four-wheel drive. Additionally, dedicated front and rear axles, AMG sports suspension, electric AMG speed-sensitive sports steering, an AMG high-performance braking system, and a 3-stage ESP (Electronic Stability Program) with sports handling mode are equipped to deliver rapid cornering and sharp handling.
According to AMG, their future goal is to "create the most dynamic and powerful, yet most efficient, four-cylinder engine for compact cars." With the "A
45 AMG," they aim for a leading position within its class. The "A 45 AMG" is also a cornerstone of the "AMG Performance 50" growth strategy, targeting 7 percent growth in the US, 15 percent in Germany, and 50 percent in China. For AMG, this represents a venture into a new segment. The '50' appears to signify 'by the 50th anniversary,' with global ambitions to increase the model range from the current 22 to approximately 30 models and sales from the current 20,000 units annually to over 30,000 units within the next five years.
The target demographic is younger than traditional AMG customers, aged 30 to 45.
