As Dr. Dieter Zetsche of Mercedes-Benz stated, Mercedes-Benz has announced the details of the new "A-Class," which has garnered attention for its dramatically altered appearance, featuring a sculpted body, a long front nose emphasizing a V-shape, two struts extending from the three-pointed star, and a smooth roofline.

With dimensions of 4,292mm long, 1,780mm wide, and 1,433mm high, its direct rivals will likely be the BMW 1 Series (4,340mm long, 1,765mm wide, 1,411mm high) and the Audi A3 Sportback (4,290mm long, 1,765mm wide, 1,430mm high).

The interior shares its architecture with the "B-Class," which, along with the new A-Class, is positioned as a key driver in Mercedes-Benz's future business plan dubbed "Mercedes-Benz 2020." The body, which fuses design and aerodynamics, is aerodynamically superior, achieving a Cd value of 0.27. The diesel engine model, "A 180 CDI," boasts environmental performance with CO2 emissions of 98g/km. The diesel lineup also includes the "A160 CDI," "A200 CDI," and the top model "A220 CDI." The "A220 CDI" is expected to produce a maximum output of 120kW (170ps) and a peak torque of 350Nm, while achieving fuel efficiency of 4.3ℓ/100km. The "A220 CDI" is scheduled for market release in Germany in December.

The "A200" is the highlight among the gasoline engine models. It boasts a maximum output of 115kW (156ps) and a peak torque of 250Nm, with fuel efficiency of 5.4ℓ/100km and CO2 emissions of 127g/km. This represents a 26 percent improvement in environmental performance compared to the previous generation model. Furthermore, the top-tier gasoline engine model is said to produce a maximum output of 155kW (211ps) and a peak torque of 350Nm, while achieving fuel efficiency of 6.1ℓ/100km and CO2 emissions of 143g/km.

Transmissions offered include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic "7G-DCT." The A-Class, developed with participation from AMG, Mercedes-Benz's high-performance division, from the initial stages, also features AMG-influenced versions: the "A250 Sport" and "A220 CDI Sport." These are equipped with gloss black or silver 5-spoke lightweight alloy wheels (235/40 R 18) and red brake calipers. The front grille is also a special "Diamond Grille," and the finish isConcept Modelclosest to the concept model.

In addition, based on three style options – Urban, Style, and AMG Sport – and three design packages – Night, Exclusive, and AMG Exclusive – a wide array of customization options are available, allowing customers to create a unique A-Class. Examples include interior lighting systems, sports seats, and contrast stitching.

Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz emphasizes that safety is paramount, equipping all models as standard with the radar-based "COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST" system.

In Germany, the "A180 BlueEFFICIENCY," equipped with a 1.6-liter inline-4 gasoline engine producing a maximum output of 122ps, is priced at €23,978.50.
