Evolved to be More Aggressive

As previously reported by OPENERS,our test drive reviewand other coverage, this is the third-generation Boxster. After its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in March, world premierethis long-awaited new Boxster has finally been unveiled in Japan. While the compact body size remains largely unchanged, with only a 32mm increase in overall length, the wheelbase has been extended by 60mm, and the track widened by 40mm at the front and 18mm at the rear. This means the wheels are pushed further out towards the corners, a key visual characteristic. The front air intakes are larger, and the sides feature deeply sculpted air intakes. Additionally, the rear spoiler now connects the two taillights, creating a distinctive look. Inside, similar to the new 911, the center console slopes forward. The roof can be opened or closed in 9 seconds, and can be operated while driving at speeds up to 50 km/h.

Beyond changes to the exterior and interior, the lightweight soft top and the body structure, refreshed with extensive use of aluminum and magnesium, achieve both improved static torsional rigidity and weight reduction. The model variations are the Boxster and the Boxster S. The Boxster S features the same 3.4-liter flat-six direct-injection engine as before, with a maximum output of 340 ps, a 5 ps increase over the predecessor. Both are paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed PDK transmission.
