Adopting a New Generation Platform

Unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show, the Lexus LC 500 is an all-new two-door coupe. Its exterior strongly reflects the design of the concept model introduced in 2012,LF-LCwhich is also evident in details such as the triple-beam headlights.

The body dimensions are 4,760mm in length, 1,920mm in width, and 1,345mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,870mm. Compared to the overall length, the front and rear overhangs are remarkably short at 920mm and 970mm respectively. Details like the triple-beam headlights also draw inspiration from the LF-LC's design.

The chassis utilizes an all-new platform that will serve as the foundation for future Lexus FR models. To enhance handling performance, the hip and foot positions of the occupants have been lowered, and materials like carbon and aluminum are used in areas far from the vehicle's center of gravity, such as the roof, to suppress rotational inertia.

Furthermore, the engine is positioned behind the front axle in a front-midship layout, achieving a front-to-rear weight distribution of nearly the ideal 52:48.

The powertrain features a 5-liter V8 naturally aspirated engine, borrowed from theRC FandGS Fmodels. It produces a maximum output of 349kW (465ps) and a peak torque of 530Nm (54.0kgm). The transmission is Lexus's first 10-speed automatic.

The vehicle is equipped with the latest preventive safety package, "Lexus Safety System +," which includes electronic aids. This comprehensive suite of driver assistance features integrates Pre-Collision System with automatic braking, Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Automatic High Beams (AHB), and All-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.

The LC 500 is also scheduled for release in Japan, expected around the spring of 2017, more than a year from now.
