Capable of 30km in EV Mode
The C 350 e Avantgarde, which had its Japan premiere at the Osaka Motor Show held from December 4th, is the second plug-in hybrid model from Mercedes-Benz, following the S-Class.
The powertrain combines a 2.0-liter inline-4 engine, also found in the C 250 Sports, producing a maximum output of 155kW (155ps) and peak torque of 350Nm, with an electric motor that delivers a maximum output of 60kW (82ps) and 340Nm of torque, also featuring a boost function. The system as a whole generates 250kW (279ps) and 600Nm.
It is equipped with a 6.2kWh lithium-ion battery, allowing for approximately 30km of travel in EV mode. With a top speed of 130km/h, it can be driven in EV mode from city streets to highways. Additionally, three driving modes can be selected: 'E-SAVE' mode to maintain the charge level, and 'CHARGE' mode to recharge the battery while driving. Charging time to full is approximately 40 minutes in 'CHARGE' mode, or about 4 hours using an AC 200V power source.
The model lineup includes two types: a sedan and a station wagon. The JC08 mode fuel economy is 17.2 km/ℓ for the sedan and 16.5 km/ℓ for the station wagon. Prices are ¥7.07 million for the former and ¥7.82 million for the latter. Deliveries are expected to begin in January next year.
