Special Edition Cars Celebrate 40 Years of Golf in Japan and Polo Production Start
Volkswagen Group Japan has announced three special edition models – the Golf 40th Edition, Polo 40th Edition, and Golf Variant Anniversary Edition – to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Golf's import to Japan, the 40th anniversary of the Polo's production start, and the 20th anniversary of the Golf Variant station wagon's import to Japan. Sales have commenced with limited quantities.

Three Commemorative Models
The Golf, which began importing to Japan in 1975, is now in its seventh generation and continues to be sold worldwide. Alongside it, celebrating its own 20th anniversary since its arrival in Japan, is theGolf VariantGolf Variant, and the crossover-typeGolf AlltrackGolf Alltrack, among other derivative models.PoloPolo, also born in 1975, is celebrating its anniversary year this year, marking 40 years.
The Golf 40th Edition and Golf Variant Anniversary Edition, launched to commemorate these milestones, are both equipped with a 1.2-liter TSI turbo engine producing a maximum output of 77kW (105ps) and a maximum torque of 175Nm. They feature genuine infotainment systems, including an SSD navigation system, and bi-xenon headlights.
Furthermore, the Golf Variant includes safety and comfort features such as adaptive cruise control, a rearview camera, seat heaters, and specially designed 16-inch wheels.
The Golf 40th Edition, with its extensive equipment, is priced at 2.76 million yen, a 100,000 yen increase from the base model. Body color and production numbers are limited: 500 units in Tornado Red, 400 units each in Pacific Blue Metallic, Pure White, and Deep Black Pearl Effect, and 300 units in Tungsten Silver.
For the Golf Variant Anniversary Edition, Lime Stone Grey Metallic is adopted for the first time in the Variant series. Along with Deep Black Pearl Effect, 250 units of each will be produced. The Orix White Mother-of-Pearl Effect will be limited to 200 units, with a price of 3.24 million yen.
The Polo 40th Edition is powered by a 1.2-liter inline four-cylinder DOHC engine, delivering a maximum output of 66kW (90ps) and a maximum torque of 160Nm. In addition to the genuine navigation system, special equipment includes a rearview camera and 15-inch wheels. Priced at 2.36 million yen, it will be available in limited quantities: 700 units in Sunset Red Metallic, 500 units each in Pure White and Deep Black Pearl Effect, and 300 units in Toffee Brown Metallic.
