Acceleration Surpassing RR Models
Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show,Latest Porsche 911The biggest highlight is the adoption of a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged engine for both the basic "911 Carrera" and "911 Carrera S." Details of this model, including a co-drive test, have already been reported by Yasuhiko Kawamura.Detailed report based on a co-drive test by Yasuhiko KawamuraThe same updates have been applied to the 4WD versions of the 911 across its three body styles. These include the coupe "911 Carrera 4" and "911 Carrera 4S," the open-top "911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet" and "911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet," and the "911 Targa 4" and "911 Targa 4S," which are exclusively available in 4WD.
The same updates have been applied to the 4WD versions of the 911 across its three body styles.
Like the RR models, the engine is a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six. The Carrera 4 produces a maximum output of 272kW (370ps) and 450Nm of torque, while the Carrera 4S delivers 309kW (420ps) and 500Nm. With the Sport Chrono Package, the 0-100km/h acceleration times are 4.1 seconds for the coupe Carrera 4 (a 0.4-second improvement over the previous generation) and 3.8 seconds for the Carrera 4S (0.3 seconds faster), marking the first time the 4WD models have surpassed their RR counterparts (4.2 seconds for the Carrera, 3.9 seconds for the Carrera S).
Fuel efficiency, a key expectation, has also improved, with the PDK-equipped 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet and 911 Targa 4S achieving a remarkable 8.0ℓ/100km (approximately 12.5km/ℓ).
The transmission options are a 7-speed manual or 7-speed PDK for the coupes, and a 7-speed PDK only for the Cabriolet and Targa models. Rear-axle steering is available as an option for the Carrera 4S, mirroring the coupe models.
The design also features minor changes aligned with the new Carrera 911. Furthermore, the garnish on the 4WD models, designed to emphasize the rear fenders which are 44mm wider than the RR models, now has a 3D design, creating a sense of depth when illuminated.
Pricing for each model is as follows: the 911 Carrera 4 coupe starts at 13.72 million yen (14.371 million yen with PDK), and the 911 Carrera 4S is 16.47 million yen (17.121 million yen with PDK). For the Cabriolet, the Carrera 4 is 16.10 million yen and the Carrera 4S is 19.13 million yen. The Targa models, Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S, are also priced at 16.10 million yen and 19.13 million yen respectively. Both left- and right-hand drive options are available for all models.
