All-New Lexus GS Launched
Toyota Motor Corporation's luxury brand, Lexus. President Akio Toyoda's declaration at the Tokyo Motor Show, "Lexus is changing, and it starts with the GS," is still fresh in our minds. True to that promise, the GS series, positioned as Lexus's grand touring sedan, has undergone a full model change. The "Lexus GS450h" and "GS350," along with the newly established "GS250," are now ready for sale.

A New Chapter for the Lexus Brand
With this full model change, Lexus expresses its ambition: "Pioneering a new stage for Lexus as a truly global premium brand originating from Japan."The Lexus GS, a World Premiere at the Pebble Beach Concours d'EleganceThe styling makes a clear statement of individuality, adopting the "spindle grille" as Lexus's new symbol, a design inherited from the concept model "LF-Gh."
Furthermore, technology cultivated from Lexus's super sports car, the "Lexus LFA," has been incorporated. The fundamental performance, honed through over a million kilometers of rigorous testing worldwide, including at the Nürburgring, is impressive. The 12.3-inch wide display, analog clock, and the bamboo steering wheel used in the "version L" and "I package" variants, sourced from Kochi Prefecture, are just a few of the many highlights.
The top model, the GS450h, is scheduled for release in March and features a hybrid system. It combines a 3.5-liter V6 engine with a maximum output of 217kW (295ps) at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 356Nm (36.3kgm) at 4,500 rpm, with a motor delivering a maximum output of 147kW (200ps) and a maximum torque of 275Nm. The combined maximum output is an impressive 256kW (348ps). Prices range from 7 million yen for the standard equipment, 7.4 million yen for the I package, 7.9 million yen for the version L, and 8 million yen for the F SPORT. Fuel efficiency has been improved by 40 percent compared to the previous model.
The GS350, equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine (2GR-FSE) producing a maximum output of 318ps at 6,400 rpm and a maximum torque of 38.7kgm at 4,800 rpm, is priced at 5.8 million yen for the FR model and 6.2 million yen for the AWD model, which features adaptive control of front and rear driving force distribution. The I package is 6.2 million yen and 6.6 million yen respectively, the version L is 6.7 million yen and 7.1 million yen respectively, and the F SPORT is 6.8 million yen and 7.0 million yen respectively.
The GS250, powered by a 2.5-liter V6 engine (4GR-FSE) with a maximum output of 215ps at 6,400 rpm and a maximum torque of 26.5kgm at 3,800 rpm, is available only as an FR model. The standard specification is 5.1 million yen, the I package is 5.5 million yen, the version L is 6.0 million yen, and the F SPORT is 5.9 million yen.
