Volkswagen Polo: A New Limited Edition with Top Fuel Economy

Volkswagen Group Japan has introduced a special edition of its compact hatchback, the "Polo," called the "Polo BlueMotion," boasting exceptional fuel efficiency. It is available in a limited run of 300 units nationwide.

Fuel Economy: 23.4 km/ℓ, the Best in the Polo Family

Volkswagen's compact hatchback,Polois now joined by the limited edition "Polo BlueMotion." The BlueMotion series represents Volkswagen's commitment to optimizing fuel efficiency through integrated technologies in the engine, chassis, and aerodynamics.

The powertrain features a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder TSI turbo engine, derived from the brand's smallest model,up!producing 70kW (90ps) of maximum power and 160Nm (16.3kgm) of peak torque. This is paired with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission.

The exterior has been refined with a front grille, bumper, side skirts, and rear spoiler designed for reduced air resistance. It also features dedicated 15-inch wheels designed to minimize air turbulence. Combined with the small-displacement engine, this achieves an unprecedented fuel economy of 23.4 km/ℓ in the JC08 mode, the best ever for the Polo.

The Polo BlueMotion not only excels in fuel economy but also comes standard with adaptive cruise control featuring a full-speed follow function, typically found on higher trims of the regular Polo. Additionally, it includes bi-xenon headlights, fabric seats with blue stitching to match the model name, and a leather multifunction steering wheel as standard equipment.

The Polo BlueMotion, the first BlueMotion series model in Japan, is a limited release of only 300 units nationwide. It is available exclusively in Pure White and is priced at 2,699,000 yen.

During this announcement, there was also a discussion regarding Volkswagen's diesel engine issue. A spokesperson for Volkswagen Group Japan stated their commitment to providing accurate and timely information. Furthermore,New "Passat" Announced in Japanregarding the introduction of diesel models, which had been previously indicated, it was explained that the problematic models were the US-spec versions based on the previous generation Passat. Therefore, the Japanese specification, based on the latest Euro 6 compliant Passat, is planned for release as scheduled in early next year.
