Mercedes-Benz Teases Open-Top S-Class Model
Mercedes-Benz has announced that it will give the world premiere to the new "S-Class Cabriolet," an open-top version of the new "S-Class," at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.

A Luxurious Four-Seater Convertible, First in 44 Years
In May 2013,World Premiereand in August of the same year,Arrives in Japanthe W222 generation "S-Class," Mercedes-Benz's flagship saloon, underwent a full model change and was officially announced in Japan. Now, it has been revealed that an open-top model, the "S-Class Cabriolet," will join the lineup, following the "Coupe."CoupeThis marks the first open-top S-Class in 44 years, since the W111 generation "220SE," "250SE," "280SE," "280SE 3.5" (1961-1971) and the W112 generation "300SE."
Regarding the new S-Class Cabriolet, a Mercedes-Benz executive stated, "After 44 years, we are able to present an open-top S-Class to you once again. The new S-Class Cabriolet symbolizes our passion for creating unique, timeless, and exclusive mobility spaces that we share with our customers."
While details, including the powertrain, have not been disclosed, the vehicle is described as offering the ultimate in comfort, featuring an automatic wind protection system called "AIRCAP," a neck-level heating system called "AIRSCARF," heated armrests, and heated seats, including those in the rear.
Surpassing the existing two-seater convertible, theSL-Class"SL-Class," the S-Class Cabriolet will be the most luxurious open-top model in the Mercedes-Benz lineup. It will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA), which opens on September 15th with a press day.
