At the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on the U.S. West Coast, Lexus unveiled a facelifted version of its mid-size saloon, the GS. The key evolutions are the adoption of the latest, larger spindle grille and the addition of a turbo model.

Turbo Model "GS200t" Added


Lexus announced the 2016 model year of the "GS" for the North American market at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

The new GS emphasizes Lexus's signature spindle grille, which, combined with the standard bi-LED headlamps, creates a powerful front fascia. The rear combination lamps and bumper area have also been redesigned.

In terms of powertrain,NXand onwards,RXandISthe turbo model "GS200t" has been added, also appearing in the "NX" and "RX." The 2.0-liter inline-4 turbo produces a maximum output of 241 hp and a maximum torque of 350 Nm. Paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, it achieves a fuel economy of 33 mpg (approximately 14.0 km/ℓ).

Additionally, the "GS 350" equipped with a V6 engine has seen its output and torque improved, delivering a maximum output of 311 hp and a maximum torque of 380 Nm. This model is also paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Three new body colors have been added: Matador Red Mica, Nightfall Mica, and Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0. This mica finish involves a complex, double-baked layer, a special paint previously reserved for concept cars and one-off models.

Trim options include matte-finished walnut, F SPORT-exclusive linear 3D, and a new Naguri-finished aluminum. New interior and seat colors have also been introduced.

Furthermore, the analog clock centrally placed on the dashboard, crafted from machined aluminum, now features GPS integration for automatic time adjustment, a fitting addition for the U.S., a country spanning four time zones.
