Combining the practicality of a station wagon with the off-road capability rivaling that of an SUV, Volkswagen Group Japan introduces a new model to the increasingly popular crossover market. As the name "Alltrack" suggests, this new model excels on various road conditions, from on-road to rough terrain. It is equipped with Volkswagen's proprietary full-time 4WD system, "4MOTION." The suspension has also been specially designed for rough road driving and is standard on all models, with the minimum ground clearance raised by 25mm compared to the Golf Variant.

In addition to the standard "Normal," "Eco," "Sport," and "Custom" modes, the Golf Alltrack features a newly developed "Off-road" mode. This mode adjusts ABS, activates Hill Descent Assist (automatic speed control on descents), and modifies the accelerator pedal's response, delivering off-road performance comparable to SUV models.

The engine is the 1.8-liter inline 4-cylinder gasoline turbo TSI, a first for the Golf series. It produces a maximum output of 132 kW (180 PS) at 4,500-6,200 rpm and a maximum torque of 280 Nm (28.6 kgm) at 1,350-4,500 rpm, paired with a 6-speed DSG transmission.

The price for the "TSI 4MOTION" is 3.47 million yen, and the "TSI 4MOTION Upgrade Package," which includes the Lane Assist system, bi-xenon headlights, and dynamic cornering lights, is priced at 3.67 million yen.
