Jaguar's Fastest Open-Top GT Ever
Jaguar XKR-S Convertible Exhibited at LA Motor Show
At the Los Angeles Motor Show, Jaguar unveiled the XKR-S Convertible, marking the arrival of the fastest open-top GT in Jaguar's history.
0-100 km/h in 4.4 Seconds, Top Speed of 300 km/h
On November 16th, at the Los Angeles Motor Show, Jaguar announced the addition of a highly anticipated convertible model to its fastest coupe, the XKR-S.
The XKR-S Convertible largely mirrors the performance of the XKR-S. Its supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine produces a maximum output of 550 ps and a peak torque of 680 Nm. Paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox, it achieves CO2 emissions of 292 g/km.
The racing-car-like exhaust note is a product of the 'Performance Active Exhaust System,' a technology that further enhances engine performance, enabling a top speed of 300 km/h and 0-100 km/h acceleration in 4.4 seconds. In essence, the convertible achieves nearly identical, astonishing specifications to its coupe counterpart.
Lightweight Aluminum Construction Achieves Open-Top Design Without Sacrificing Performance
The soft-top roof of the XKR-S Convertible retracts in just 18 seconds. Jaguar states that its lightweight yet rigid aluminum body structure boasts the highest torsional rigidity in its class, successfully transforming the coupe into a convertible without compromising its dynamic performance or elegant appeal.
Slight modifications to the front design were made to accommodate aerodynamic changes, resulting in a wider bumper and a lower air intake.
Inside, drivers are greeted by 16-way adjustable carbon leather seats and a three-spoke leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, accessed over sills lowered by 10mm. The pedals are stainless steel with embossed Jaguar branding.
The sales price in the UK is approximately £103,000, with a suggested retail price of $138,000 in the United States.
