The Latest MINI Clubman: Now with Six Doors

MINI Clubman

The Latest MINI Features a "6-Door" Clubman

The third body variation for the new MINI, the "MINI Clubman," has been announced, following its full model change two years ago. The new model replaces the "Clubman Door" on the side of the previous generation with conventional four doors, and adds a unique split rear hatch that opens in two parts, bringing the total to "6 doors."

Returning to the Shooting Brake Concept

The latestMINI" adds to the 3-door hatchback and5-door hatchbackas the third model.

With the MINI 5-door already available, the Clubman is presented as a modern interpretation of its origin as a shooting brake – a car for enjoying hunting on holidays.

The body measures 4,253mm in length, 1,800mm in width, and 1,441mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,670mm. This is 10cm longer in wheelbase and approximately 27cm longer overall than the MINI 5-door. The width is also 9cm greater. This gives it a silhouette with a flowing body and a long roofline, characteristic of a shooting brake.

The front face follows the current MINI design, featuring round headlights surrounded by chrome and a hexagonal grille, with new elements like air curtain slits on the front fenders. The rear, in particular, adopts horizontal combination lamps similar to the current "MINI Paceman"Paceman," and a rear end that is nearly vertical, making the rear view distinct and unmistakable from other models.

The split doors, framed in metal, open in two parts. The central frame has been narrowed to improve rearward visibility from the driver's seat compared to the previous Clubman. Additionally, an optional Comfort Access system allows for automatic opening by simply gesturing with your foot under the bumper or using the remote key.

MINI's First Electrically Adjustable Seats

The interior largely follows the latest MINI design. The center meter, incorporating an LCD panel, is surrounded by an LED light ring called the Interactive Light Display, which changes based on driving mode and console operations. Below this are the climate control switches, and at the bottom, characteristic toggle switches are arranged around the red ignition button.

With the optional MINI Yours Interior Package, the trim includes backlighting to enhance the nighttime driving ambiance. Furthermore, selecting the Lighting Package, which includes LED interior and ambient lighting, adds a Light Display function that projects a MINI logo onto the road from the mirrors when the car is locked or unlocked.

The Cooper S comes standard with sports seats, and John Cooper Works sport seats are also available. Additionally, MINI's first-ever electrically adjustable seats, allowing adjustment of height, fore/aft position, angle, and lumbar support, are offered.

Standard seat upholstery is fabric, with optional fabric and leather combinations or full leather seats available. Color options include MINI's signature vertical stitching, a Chester pattern with indigo blue and diagonal stitching with pure burgundy piping, and many other choices.

Body colors can be chosen from four solid and eight metallic options. Additionally, a contrast color option is available at no extra charge, allowing the roof and door mirror caps to be specified in white, silver, or black.

8-Speed Automatic Transmission for Higher Trims

Three powertrain options are available for the new MINI Clubman.

The MINI Cooper Clubman, equipped with a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder turbo engine, produces a maximum output of 100kW (136ps) and peak torque of 220Nm. Torque can be temporarily boosted to 230Nm via the overboost function. It is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed Steptronic (automatic) transmission.

The MINI Cooper D Clubman features a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine producing 110kW (150ps) and 330Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0-100km/h in 8.6 seconds (8.5 seconds for the AT) and reaches a top speed of 212km/h. Fuel efficiency is rated at 4.4-4.1 L/100km (approximately 22.7-24.4 km/L) in European measurements, with CO2 emissions of 115-109g/km, showcasing the efficiency of the latest diesel unit.

The top-tier MINI Cooper S Clubman utilizes a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine, delivering 141kW (192ps) and 280Nm of torque. It boasts a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 7.2 seconds (7.1 seconds for the AT) and a top speed of 228km/h. Fuel efficiency is 6.3-5.8 L/100km (approximately 15.9-17.2 km/L), with CO2 emissions of 147-134g/km.

The Cooper D and Cooper S models are equipped with either a 6-speed manual or MINI's first 8-speed Steptronic (automatic) transmission. An optional 8-speed Sport Steptronic transmission is also available for the Cooper S, featuring shorter shift times and paddle shifters. This includes a launch control function for maximum acceleration from a standstill.

Abundant Driver Assistance Systems

The front suspension uses a newly developed single-joint strut system, similar in format to the MINI hatchback but with all parts newly engineered. The rear employs a multi-link system for increased rigidity. These have been adapted to the longer Clubman body and optimized to achieve MINI's signature "go-kart feeling" ride.

A variety of optional driver assistance systems are available to support safe and comfortable driving. These include Park Distance Control with front and rear sensors, a rearview camera, Parking Assist for finding parking spaces and assisting with parking maneuvers, and cruise control with braking function.

Additionally, optional features include cruise control that maintains a set speed and distance to the vehicle ahead using a camera, Forward Collision Warning and Collision Mitigation Brake, road sign recognition that identifies and displays speed limits and no-passing signs, and a High Beam Assistant that automatically adjusts high beams considering ambient light and the presence of preceding or oncoming vehicles.

A screen-type MINI Head-Up Display is also available, projecting navigation, music information, and safety alerts to minimize the need for the driver to look away from the road.

With the introduction of the MINI 5-door, the Clubman's position as a hatchback with rear doors seemed somewhat ambiguous. However, by redefining its role, it has arguably gained a more distinct character.
