Deliveries Begin November 2011
The 2012 model "911 GT3 R" has been unveiled. Within the customer racing team vehicle lineup, it sits between the basic "911 GT3 CUP" and the "911 GT3 RSR" machine for GT2 categories like the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Since its debut in 2010, it has garnered popularity for its excellent handling and speed.
In the 2012 model, the intake system of the 4-liter flat-six engine has been optimized, increasing maximum output by 20 PS to achieve 368 kW (500 PS). The steering wheel paddle shifters now allow for quicker gear changes, enabling the driver to concentrate more on braking.
Furthermore, by optimizing the transmission program, including the addition of a blipping function, shift errors and over-revs have been virtually eliminated. The car employs a dog-type 6-speed sequential transmission, which has been reinforced to match the increased power. The traction control system has continued to evolve since the "911 GT3 R" was first introduced in 2010, and the ABS now offers more precise brake control.
Deliveries are scheduled to commence sequentially from November 2011. Porsche Motorsport is also offering a 2012 model spec upgrade kit for the 2010 and 2011 model 911 GT3 R.
